Day Six
Today we toured Maker's Mark. We've been there before...but this time we got to see them bottling which was really neat! Afterward, Mark got to dip his own bottle which we plan to keep in the tiki bar as a memento...unless there is an "emergency" need for a bottle of bourbon! We've traveled over 1,200 miles so far on this trip.
Day Five
Today our we toured the Assembly Plant. Our tour was "self guided" because there were so many visitors. When we arrived it was "break time" and nothing was happening so we decided to wait until the workers returned. It is fascinating to watch the red doors arrive at exactly the same time as the red body of the car. I wonder who is responsible for making all of that happen?? The workers were very friendly and answered any questions we had. What a beautiful bunch of cars. Maybe that pewter corvette will show up in our driveway sometime in the future!!
Day Four
Today we drove for a few hours and met up with a couple of other groups...now we probably have almost 400 corvettes in our caravan heading toward Bowling Green. During the last leg of our drive we ran into several thunderstorms that caused some of our travelers to pull off and put their tops back up. Nothing, however, will dampen our spirit! We are all so excited to finally be within a few minutes of our destination! First we were sent to the Assembly plant to drive around the parking lot...our baby has come back to the place where it was born! Then across the street to the big welcoming! When we arrive at the National Corvette Museum there are people all over waving and clapping and welcoming us. It's a wonderful homecoming. We toured the museum while there wasn't a large crowd. Now on to the hotel to check-in.
Day Three
Did I tell you that I won a free Swedish Massage at the Belterra Resort? It was wonderful! I think I will have to find a place in NJ to get a massage every now and then....very relaxing.
But I think the best part of today would have to be driving the Bluegrass Race Track. We had to leave the hotel pretty early and went on a sort of round about way to get there, thanks to our group leader...but it was a great experience. The track isn't finished yet...in fact they announced once we arrived that not only did they not have the concession stand open for our lunch, but there were, in fact, no rest rooms yet! Some women decided to take the supplied shuttle back to the hotel. It was AWESOME! driving around the track for 4 laps. (actually Mark drove) We had the top down and so it felt like we were flying. We're hoping to get some photos of us while we were driving thanks to some friends. Maybe we can post them later.

Day Two
Today we do lots of driving...from New Stanton, PA to Florence, IN staying at the Belterra Resort. The best part of today was that we stopped in Columbus to see Sebastian for a quick lunch break. Max & Larry joined us. Afterward we continued on to our destination, where we will stay for two days. More corvettes will be joining us there.
